Jodhpur, Rajasthan: Long celebrated for the iconic Mehrangarh Fort, its rich cultural heritage and globally renowned handicrafts industry, Jodhpur is now earning national recognition as one of India's fastest-growing startup and innovation hubs. Over the past several years, the city has witnessed an unprecedented surge in entrepreneurial activity, with founders building globally competitive ventures, investors backing local innovation and educational institutions actively promoting research-driven entrepreneurship.

Several startups founded in Jodhpur have emerged as national leaders in their respective sectors, while many others are rapidly expanding into international markets, demonstrating that globally competitive enterprises can be successfully built from a Tier-III city. Companies including ASG Eye Hospital, Utkarsh, Marwari Catalysts, INKA, NPrep, LeapAhead, UR Turns, Elara IVF, Dopahar, Sarathi Health Care, Inteliquant AI, Climekare, Literom, Nostalgia Pages, Krimanshi and WorkAffair have established strong positions across industries ranging from healthcare and education to artificial intelligence, climate technology, enterprise software, consumer brands, financial services, manufacturing and media.

According to industry estimates and ecosystem stakeholders, startups founded in Jodhpur have collectively attracted investments exceeding Rs. 2,500 crore over the years. With increasing investor confidence, stronger institutional support and expanding access to domestic and international markets, ecosystem leaders believe the city's startup community has the potential to attract cumulative investments ranging between Rs. 3,000 crore and Rs. 5,000 crore in the coming years. Such growth is expected to generate thousands of high-quality employment opportunities while making a significant contribution to Rajasthan's innovation-driven economy.

The city's transformation has been driven by a collaborative ecosystem involving academia, industry, investors, successful entrepreneurs and startup enablers. Together, these stakeholders have created an environment where aspiring founders can access mentorship, incubation, funding, strategic partnerships and global market opportunities without relocating from their hometown.

Recognising that entrepreneurship thrives through collaboration, Marwari Catalysts also established Startup Club Jodhpur, a dedicated community platform for aspiring entrepreneurs, students and innovators. The organisation has conducted eight Founder Meet-and-Greet pre-incubation sessions, bringing together more than 500 entrepreneurs through expert lectures, networking opportunities, mentorship interactions and startup pitch presentations. The platform has become an important forum for exchanging ideas, discovering new opportunities and encouraging young entrepreneurs to launch innovative ventures.

Jodhpur's growing entrepreneurial landscape is further strengthened by the active participation of leading academic institutions, including IIT Jodhpur, National Law University, AIIMS Jodhpur, MBM University, Rajasthan Agricultural University, Dr. S.N. Rajasthan Ayurveda University and the Footwear Design and Development Institute. These institutions continue to play a vital role in research, innovation, skill development and startup ecosystem growth.

Speaking about the city's remarkable transformation, Sushil Sharma, Chairman of Marwari Catalysts Group, Executive Director of BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Convenor of the ESC Rajasthan Chapter and Co-Chair of the Startup Vertical, Rotary District 3053 (2026–27), said that six years ago very few people associated Jodhpur with startups. He stated that the city has now evolved into a vibrant entrepreneurial centre where founders are building companies that solve real-world challenges while attracting national and international recognition. He added that the organisation's association with Startup India, the creation of Startup Club Jodhpur and continuous efforts to connect founders with investors, mentors and global markets have established an ecosystem where innovation can flourish. He further expressed confidence that the next decade will belong to Tier-II and Tier-III cities and that Jodhpur is well positioned to become one of India's leading startup destinations.

Gaurav Parulkar, Chief Executive Officer of the IIT Jodhpur Technology Innovation and Start-up Center, said that the success of any startup ecosystem depends upon strong collaboration between academia, researchers, innovators and industry. He stated that Jodhpur has made significant progress in this direction and that organisations such as Marwari Catalysts have played an important role in connecting innovators with mentors, investors and markets, enabling startups to commercialise technologies and build sustainable enterprises.

Professor Dr. Govind Sahay Shukla, Vice Chancellor of Dr. S.N. Rajasthan Ayurveda University, stated that innovation now extends far beyond information technology, with healthcare, Ayurveda, biotechnology and wellness experiencing rapid entrepreneurial growth. He said that Jodhpur's evolving startup ecosystem is encouraging researchers, students and professionals to transform scientific knowledge into impactful enterprises while supporting sustainable economic development and preserving India's traditional knowledge systems.

Vipul Kochar, President of the MBM Alumni Association, stated that Jodhpur has consistently produced outstanding engineers, technologists and professionals. He said that the emergence of a supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem has empowered them to become business founders. According to him, the combined efforts of educational institutions, alumni networks, investors and organisations such as Marwari Catalysts have created an environment where innovators possess both the confidence and institutional support required to build globally competitive companies from Rajasthan.

Industry experts believe that Jodhpur's remarkable entrepreneurial journey highlights the immense potential of India's Tier-II and Tier-III cities. They maintain that continued collaboration among academia, government, investors, industry and ecosystem enablers will further strengthen the city's position as one of North-West India's most influential innovation centres.

As India enters the next phase of its startup revolution, Jodhpur is increasingly being recognised as a model for regional innovation-led development. The city's rapid rise demonstrates how visionary leadership, institutional collaboration and community-driven entrepreneurship can transform a historic heritage destination into a globally connected startup hub capable of driving economic growth, technological innovation and large-scale employment generation.
